CAVWAY Proving Ground

We are pleased to announce a new project to expand and improve our CAV capacity.

CAVWAY Proving Ground is a new Connected & Automated Vehicle testing facility designed and operated by IDIADA, together with our consortium partner Prova Developments.

It will be based near Oxford in the UK and due for completion by the end of 2021.

The new facility will include a comprehensive set of highway junctions, all within a fully connected, controlled, repeatable and safe environment to perform all required development and validation testing programmes for ADAS and CAV development, and according to the latest Euro NCAP and regulation requirements.

A wide variety of testing possibilities for development and validation projects will be possible thanks to fully configurable V2X, C-V2X, 4G / 5G  network coverage. At CAVWAY proving ground, it will be possible to control everything the vehicle “hears”  and “sees” in a coordinated way to set up all kinds of tricky edge-case traffic scenarios, facilitating seamless integration between experimental and virtual development work.

Additionally, CAVWAY will also offer vehicle simulation and cyber security testing in normal and abnormal conditions, as well as connectivity testing and benchmarking, among other services

New CAV tracks at IDIADA Proving Ground

In keeping with our commitment to innovation, together with our goal to continue providing world class facilities and services to our clients, IDIADA is pleased to announce the go-ahead of a major project to expand and improve its Proving Ground facility.

In the first quarter of 2021, IDIADA will start the construction of a new test track complex specially designed for CAV testing and validation at our Proving Ground in l'Albornar, Spain.

This 15.3 million EUR investment comprises the construction of multiple sections that will reproduce urban, rural, interurban and motorway environments. The first phase is due to be operational during the second quarter of 2022. The new tracks will complement our current comprehensive facilities and will position IDIADA as a global reference and leader in the field of CAV testing and validation.

Construction Phase I   Q2 2022

Construction Phase II  Q4 2023

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to receive further information on this project.

Resurfacing curve of lanes 1-2 High Speed Circuit

We would like to inform you regardig the planned resurfacing of curve on lanes 1- 2 High Speed Circuit.

The work will require a complete closure of the track. To interfere as little as possible with testing, the work will be carried out during the mid-winter holiday period, specifically from Saturday 19/12/2020 to Wednesday 13/01/2021.

Please consider the following changes to lanes 1- 2 of both curves of the High Speed Circuit once the resurfacing has been completed:

  • Lane 1 will have a cross slope of 3%
  • Lane 2 will be modified from the current curved / parabolic profile to a straight profile at 6%. At test level the impact should be minimal.

Lanes 3-4 will not be resurfaced at this time.

We consider that these changes will not affect testing activities, but should be taken into consideration. In case of any comment of question regarding these improvements, please contact us at
