Intelligent Transport Systems
New iniciative
The European Commission published a new initiative on Intelligent Transport Systems.
Intelligent transport systems improve safety, traffic efficiency and driver comfort by helping people take the right decisions and adapt to traffic situations.
The general objective of the initiative is to accelerate and coordinate the deployment and use of these ITS services across the EU to improve the functioning of the road transport system including its interfaces with other modes, and in doing so reduce the negative external effects of road transport.
It will also cover new developments such as:
• Connected and automated mobility (e.g. self-driving vehicles);
• Online platforms allowing users to access several modes of transport.
The proposal will be in feedback period until 2 February 2021 .
