EU - Draft Commission Implementing Regulation on type-approval of motor vehicles with regard their Emergency Lane- Keeping Systems (ELKS)
The Working Group on Motor Vehicles (MVWG) has published R(EU) .../... (ELKS) - Commission Implementing Regulation (EU).../... of XXX on type approval of motor vehicles with regard their Emergency Lane-Keeping System (ELKS).
Regulation (EU) 2019/2144 of the European Parliament and of the Council lays down basic requirements for the type-approval of motor vehicles with regard to the installation of their Emergency lane-keeping system.
It is necessary to elaborate on those requirements and establish uniform procedures and technical specifications for such type-approval. The scope of this Regulation should be in line with that of Regulation (EU) 2019/2144, in particular as defined in its Annex II. As such, the scope of this Regulation is limited to vehicles of categories M1 and N1.
The measures provided for in this Regulation are in accordance with the opinion of the Technical Committee – Motor Vehicles.
The proposal introduces the following application dates:
- New types: 6 July 2022;
- New registrations: 7 July 2024.
On October 2020 has been published a revision of the draft proposal.
